Retro Blogroll

As a side project to distract myself from all my current dramalamadingdong, I decided to freshen up my blog space this weekend.  Doing so caused me to study more carefully a wide range of other blogs.

… So apparently, (and feel free to get in your time machine, go back to 2008, and correct me if I’m wrong) blogrolls aren’t a thing so much anymore.  The horror, people!  The horror and sadness.

(Let me get out my Pepperidge Faaaaarms milano cookies and reminisce about the times in which you could find a bunch of new and weird and counter-culture blogs just by nosing around long enough on a page of links.  Do you rememba that time?  Because Pepperidge Farms does.)

As such, if you 1) have a blog 2) that’s been updated in 2014 and which 3) has a blogroll somewhere on it, I will LINK YOUR ASS UP on my new retro blogroll.  Offer good until I get 15 links.  Then I’m shutting it down because I’m not into spending my MLK day cutting and pasting.

Show me your awesome blogs, internets.

  1. I remember blogrolls! I used to surf through them, adding RSS feeds left and right! I stopped having one when people started getting their feelings hurt if they weren’t included on it, and EMAILING ME TO ASK HOW THEY’D OFFENDED ME OMG. But I do miss them. (Blogrolls, I mean. Not the strange emails.)

  2. I would totally have jumped at this a couple of years ago, but considering it’s been that long since I’ve posted on my blog it seems a little silly! The third kid just kicked my ass and now I barely have time to read blogs. But I’m with you–I love blogrolls and I think it is sad that people don’t have them anymore. I found many of my favorite bloggers that way, including you, from A Little Pregnant.

  3. Ahh! at first I was all, “Hem-ly Day! Anne has updated her bloggy!” when I saw an indicator in my Bloglines feed. Then I realized that I don’t even look around any mores, so I had no idea that my mouldering URL was so passé. Then I realized, no matter how ya slice it, I don’t really blog so it doesn’t matter.
    Bah!

  4. I HAVE BLOGGED IN 2014!!!
(This is big news for me, I was teetering on the quittin’ side)

I deleted my blogroll (same as swistle) when I started getting the emails asking WHY AM I NOT ON YOUR BLOGROLL HOW DID I OFFEND??

  5. Blogrolls are how I find this wonderful slice of the InterWebs! And then, of course, you hooked me with your candid, heartbreaking, lyrical writing. 🙂

Would feel honored if you wanted to list my blog. Bonus – I have blogged this year! I have also done laundry! So, all in all, I feel pretty on top of my ‘ish.’

  6. I miss blogrolls. However the last time I blogged I was several months pregnant and now I have a three month old and I’m even less likely to do it again (blogging, I mean, though being pregnant again isn’t seeming too likely either).
