Links and New Baby and Weird Ramblings02 Dec 2009 06:55 am

I don’t know what’s come over me, except the baby has slept a full eight hours, three nights in a row, but I am feeling kind of overwhelmingly weepy and grateful this morning.

And so!  Here is a terribly sappy song I love, made worse because it is the song my dad always wished he could go back and dance to with my mom at their wedding*.  They didn’t dance at all at their wedding, because it was the sixties and they were barely allowed to get married at all, because you know:  One was Baptist and the other Adventist, and most people using the authority of the church to marry others believed that combo was clearly a marriage made in Hell, and would produce some kind of freakish offspring.  Wait a minute.

Anyway!  Here’s the song, which if you think of it in the vary narrow context of some lanky dude with sideburns wanting it to be played in a church’s reception hall, then Holy BALLs, totally edgy.  Especially the talk about virginity and Superman.

Also, because I paid full price for my ticket on the Velveeta Express, I’m linking to Gives Me Hope.  Go verily and weep over the corny goodness (it is compromised of happy tweets and, despite the name, doesn’t hit you up for money).

* The song didn’t come out until after they were married.

Yea for the baby sleeping! That means Anne sleeps too! Yea! I remember how incredibly more human I felt after getting my first six hours in a row. I am so, so happy for you. This should totally become a celebrated milestone, and traditional gifts should include Ambien and a sleep mask.

I have no idea what you are writing about today, since I read at work and the %&@#* bosses block EVERYTHING, but I still think you are funny and entertaining.
I did get the part about the baby sleeping and that is only the greatest thing in the world.

I love that song. It reminds me of my mom and dad dancing in the living room when I was a kid. Thanks for the dose of sap.
